- Users complain about the length of time it takes for reports to run
- Too many users may be part of the problem!
- Educating users may help reduce type/length of reports
- Reports are generated directly out of the live production database system
- Slows entire system.inefficient use of DB
- System can't handle voluminous reports
- Might not actually need such huge reports.just done out of habit
- Dashboard reduces need for large reports.. summaries are great!
- When reports are run, other users experience slow performance with their applications
Lack of cost-effective, simple solutions for reporting on real-time production data affects the ROI for the Business Intelligence/Decision Support systems, and directly impacts the bottom line. The solutions are sometimes right in front of us, just waiting to be noticed. Other solutions may require re-thinking business reporting needs. Either way, costly reporting issues can and should be reduced.
